Entry for May 07, 2007

Greetings from the middle of Nowhere and Not Much Else. I have been busy fingerpainting and unpacking. Still unpacking books, books and more books. A friend of mine in Los Angeles swore he would never help a reader move again after helping me move twice in a row.

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by and posted or commented even though I have TOTALLY neglected you. Empress and Cheesie, and T and Ms. K, and Beatleboy (trivia and all) and Lady Expat and BD and Cynthia and CoyDog and Lockerridge, Evil Skeever, Elvirah, Von, Iamigloo, well, shoot, I can’t think of anymore names. But you know who you are.

What I wanna know is why are entire cities disappearing? It is so creepy. I feel so bad for those people in Kansas and at the same time when I hear them talk about FEMA I think, good luck amigos. New Orleans is still a ghost town for the most part. And my family is spread to the 4 winds, well actually the 3 winds.

And then I think about Pompeii. Oh well.

Nothing new under the sun I guess. But it feels creepy.

A really great Zen poet named Issa summed it up rather well:

We walk on hell
Gazing at flowers

Something like that. I wish they would start the “Scrubs” channel and I would just watch that silly show all day. That’s what I would do.

Life is so fragile. I’m trying to enjoy my visit and not complain too much when it’s time to leave. Every day really is lagniappe as they say here in Louisiana: something extra.

Hurray you are back! I have been pining for you! I would like to see any and all finger paintings. So I think that with your meteor heading for our planet what do we have to worry about stopping global warming? I mean all these natural disasters are going to stop in a blink yes? LOL
My fracking ears are pissing me off! Today they just start up again. I have a doctor that is a bit of an airhead. She gives me nassenex(which I am not going to use) and some pills that I can walk my arse to the store and get some that wont kill me. So that is what I will do if it doesn’t go away. I am a little irritated that my ears have chose this year to decide that they are going to crap! LOL I am falling apart over here. If I go to my doctor and tell her to give me what you suggest she will just act weird. She will probably do it but she is an odd duck. I like her well enough but I have to go in with the info before hand or she acts oddly about it. This week I told her how I am an organic eater and she gave me the oddest look. I have not yet figured her out. LOL

Weird things have always happened…I mean, from the disappearance of the Roanoke colony to freak weather completely destroying entire cities…it’s just so odd. What really freaks me out is trying to imagine a place like New Orleans right now…no one there, a ghost town…it’s weird to think about a place like that existing in this country.

I’m glad to see you back…and I know how your friend feels. I have had to pack and unpack my own books a great number of times and I swear to gods, it’s probably the worst job in the world. However, opening the boxes is like opening a present at Christmas…I love reading through all my titles just to pick one and read it again.

Anywho, glad to see you around! Much love to you, sexy.

It’s not entirely deserted. The CBD is back to normal and the French Quarter is jamming. But half the population is gone and entire sections are vacant. Like the Lower Ninth Ward etc. It is so weird to drive around. I was in Kenner recently (outskirts) and saw hundreds of FEMA trailers in people’s front yards. So some are back but it’s still weird. Comopared to what it was it’s a ghost town still.

So great to hear from ya Cheesie. Yeah, I’m back. Missed you lots Oh Magnificent One.

And the greatest thing about being out of school is now you can read what you want to. It might take awhile for the urge to come back after all the mandatory reading.

I’ve been out of the loop a while myself. You coming back? Hope all is well.
