Entry for April 03, 2007

Hey everyone! Well, there have been a few flies in the ole ointment since last week. I am still trying to move but ended up in the hospital for 3 days with a Solu-Medrol drip. (MS complications for any new visitors) As usual, the spirit is WAY willing and the body TOTALLY has other ideas. Stupid damn bodies. Thanks for all your nice comments about the wisteria photo. I have been wanting to get it since last year and was waiting like a little vulture for it to bloom.

In the meantime my youngest niece just had her school pictures done and I don’t even recognize her. Feels like being in a Twilight Zone episode I haven’t seen before. The new place here with Robert is so wonderful and I am happy to be here finally. It’s nice getting out of the “after-Katrina” house and getting on with my life. I was so grateful to have a place to live but it had too many bad memories associated with it. Really bad.

Oh, and Empress Celena, Thursday was continued. I sent you an email but it must not have made it. Sorry to worry you.

Gee, I feel like I’ve been on a cruise or something. (yeah, right, with the cast of Scrubs).

Thanks for the well wishes Cheesie. You always lift my spirits. And Lady Expat I always feel faint when you like one of my photos. Yours are so amazingly great. And you too, Cynthia and T and Ms. K. Thanks for all the warm fuzzies. It especially helps when I feel crappy.

(I had the strangest dream, and you and you and YOU were there…) Bleah bleah bleah. I will be blog hopping soon. Leave the front light on for me, OK?

Entry for March 26, 2007

I tried posting twice and got bumped and lost it. No more today. I give up. In a nutshell: I am still moving. Keep those cards and comments coming, here’s a photo I did recently. Hope you like it. Spring has sprang here. Hurray!

IT’S A BOY! IT’S A GIRL! …..it’s an IT.. IT’S a healthy it, though.

It hatched when I wasn’t looking. You know you just wait and wait and wait and then POP! I think it’s Puff the Magic Dragon part 2. I dunno. Has some funny hair. I love it anyway though. Thank you Lockerridge for the nice baby.

Winslet Awarded Damages Over Diet Story
Friday March 9 11:43 AM ET

Kate Winslet was awarded substantial libel damages Friday after a British magazine wrongly stated that she had visited a diet doctor.

The 31-year-old actress, known for her criticism of excessive dieting, wasn’t at London’s High Court for the hearing on an article published last month by women’s magazine Grazia.

Winslet’s lawyer, Rachel Atkins, said the story wrongly stated that Winslet had sought the help of California-based Chinese herbalist Yi Pan for her weight, despite vowing not to bow to Hollywood pressure on actresses to be skinny.

Atkins said Winslet had visited Pan for a neck injury.

Grazia printed an apology in its March 5 issue, saying it was “very happy to set the record straight.”

Winslet, a five-time Oscar nominee, said in a statement that she was delighted by the outcome, adding that the magazine had apologized to her in full.

“I am not a hypocrite,” she said. “I have always been, and shall continue to be, honest when it comes to body/weight issues. I feel very strongly that `curves’ are natural, womanly and real.”

Lawyers for Winslet said she would be donating the unspecified but “substantial” damages payment to charity.

Winslet has received Oscar nominations for her roles in “Little Children,” “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Iris,” “Titanic” and “Sense and Sensibility.”

Did I miss anything?

Other than Switzerland accidentally invading Lichtenstein that is. How could you accidentally invade a country the size of a quarter? And besides, isn’t Swiss neutral? I thought all they did was make penknives and clocks and chocolate. Oh and hide money. So even the Swiss are beating up other countries now. Sign of the times I guess. Maybe Lichtenstein had some chocolate factories they wanted.

And now to change the subject to the most fascinating one of all — ME. This is my blog and I claim to be the most fascinating thing in the universe on here. Everywhere else I am a number and pretty much invisible. In this little bit of cyberspace I RULE. Ha.

Well I spent yesterday in bed recovering from doing too much Monday and Tuesday (for the uninitiated here I have MS and have to manage my physical activity) . I am still packing and as many of you may have surmised, Robert and I are getting a place together. The really good news is we can be together AND I can have my horse on the property because it is out in the country. Way cool. This is a wonderful resolution for both of us to the total life-catapult that Katrina sent our way. Bloom where you’re planted is what I say. Oh yeah, and damn the torpedoes. And the hurricanes. except the ones at Pat O’Brien’s. I could use one of those right now.

Thanks for stopping by and checking on me. I appreciate the emails saying where the heck are ya? I’ll be checking all your blogs more often. I’ve been lurking a little here and there so don’t think I’m not watching. Savoir Faire ees EVERYWHERE baby!

You Gotta Admit — It’s a Look

Okay sue me but I thought this photo was so great I just had to use it. What is not to like about this outfit. I mean really. I think it’s awesome and again I am busy packing. Keep sending the blast ideas. They are great. I will use them as quotes from you. Ta.

My First Foray into Photoshop

Ha ha. I thought this program wasn’t going to be too difficult because I have three others that are similar. WRONG. My mind is boggled but I am having fun. Byt the way the graphic is supposed to look like this. It is a photograph I cropped and tweaked.

I am also very busy packing.

Will the United Nations pass any resolutions that will deflect the meteor on its way here to end everything in the year 2036, and, if not, how do you intend to spend your last day on Earth?

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane… Oh crap it’s just another blog entry.

After a brief hiatus, I am back. I am less settled in than even the last entry because I am moving soon. More on that later. Right now I am just too busy packing to even think about it. Talk amongst yourselves.

I am very concerned about Britney. I mean really, people. What is this world coming to? This country’s sweetheart (and slut) has SHAVED her HEAD. What’s next? Tearing up pictures of the Pope on SNL? If only she could sing that well. Ha. I can’t believe she blew Anna Nicole news off the map only to be blown off the map by Nicole’s crying judge.

Speaking of SNL, despite the fact it has gone downhill, I will be glued to it this Saturday because Dwight from “The Office” is hosting. He is one of my favorite actors (althought his real name escapes me at the moment). I hear there is a Dwight bobble-head available. I guess I better start surfing for it. Anyway, I thought he was hysterical when he was the apprentice on “Six Feet Under.” Anyhoo…..

As for the comet on its way to Earth and has a 1 in 45,000 chance of blowing us to oblivion in 2036, Robert and I are getting T-shirts made with bulls-eyes on them. The night it is supposed to hit, we will sit in lawn chairs in the back yard and hold hands. I have decided to blast “Great Balls of Fire” on the boom box.

If there is anything you don’t like about this entry. Post it for crap’s sake. The comet is coming and Britney is running around hairless. The world really is coming to an end. Or maybe I am asleep still.

Friday Before Mardi Gras — Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!

I am laying low on Mardi Gras this year although I would LOVE to get to the ZULU parade (picutured above). I went to some parades last year after Katrina and also to Halloween which is like a mini-gras, so this year I am going to eat some King Cake. That’s about it. There is a lot going on with my Mom being up in Maine, Robert looking for a job and still trying to get his SBA loan taken care of so he can move into his trailer.I am struggling about what to do with my horse.

My first priority after kalyth, is getting these seedlings going. They take a lot of attention at first. Everything has come up very well except the lavendar has only sent up four shoots so far. But the basil looks amazing, thyme is looking great, marjoram and oregano all looking healthy and strong. Robert’s Dad is already ploughing the ground and mulching it to plant potatoes. Spring is my favorite time of year.

And I am also working on a proposal for a regional publishing company in Louisiana. Still trying to settle in to the community here and find my niche. It’s a little strange.
